VOLVO CAR SHOWROOM

CLIENT
AUTOCENTAR BAOTIĆ d.o.o.

LOCATION
Dubrava, Zagreb

YEAR
2016

GROSS FLOOR AREA
950.00 m2

Volvo Car Showroom is located within the complex of the Baotić car dealership in Dubrava. The reconstruction of the existing showroom arose from the need to adapt the car showroom to the new prescribed requirements which, in addition to a more attractive exterior and interior, will contribute to increased sales. The design of the Volvo brand has been conceived to reflect the Scandinavian spirit with its clean and simple lines, cold and restrained facade in contrast to the warm interior. The transparency is the reflection of the true Scandinavian tradition and it can be perceived both literally, in architecture and interior design and symbolically, which directly reflects in the application of the concept of various levels of transparency of glass surfaces.

The appearance of the building envelope lies on the concept of “less is more” creating a simple, uniform facade with a few focal points. The facade of the showroom is clad in milky white glass with an emphasized portal and display window which are defined with transparent glass and exterior wooden wall cladding. The entrance with its scale and the material used is in contrast with the rest of the facade which makes it visible from afar, while the oak frame mirrors the warmth and the Scandinavian heritage. The display window is yet another focal point, simple in form and with refined details such as wood-framed opening which creates an ideal “picture frame” of the displayed car and serves as an intriguing reflection of the interior.

The showroom area is divided into two zones: the Street zone and the Living Room zone, the design of which continues the concept of the warm and the cold with the intent to provide the customer with the sense of ease when buying a car. The Street zone is the showroom for the vehicles and additional equipment located near the entrance and along the internal façade front. The Living Room zone is located at the heart of the car showroom and integrates the main reception, buyers lounge with the self service café bar, consultation points with sales staff and staff offices. The interior is dominated by white walls and glass walls. Here, the emphasis is on warmth and softness, which is achieved by the use of wood and textile panelling. In contrast, the Street zone is of neutral, solid monochromatic character which enables the cars to come to the fore. The envisaged furniture of the car showroom is a combination of carefully selected pieces of Scandinavian classic and contemporary designer items which create a colourful, but at the same time relaxing atmosphere.
