LOCATION
Donja Bistra

YEAR

FLOOR AREA
220.00 m2

Family House V has been designed in accordance with personal and family residential needs of a young couple. The idea was to design a classic home that would be different and special at the same time and fully adapted to their individual needs, a house which would clearly stand out among other houses in the neighbourhood. The result is a simple, archetypal structure of classic, modern architectural design which combines the house and a large garage into one whole. The traditional house construction in this area follows an elegant floor plan pattern (relatively narrow, rectangular floor plan) and has a domineering double-pitched roof. In that way, the house respects the neighbourhood standards and the traditional building features, but at the same time it is characterized by contemporary façade composition.

The house consists of two, functionally different floor levels interconnected by an internal staircase. In addition to a large daily zone with the fireplace, the house has three bathrooms, four bedrooms, a study and a garage with the storage area. The open concept of the living room, kitchen and the bathroom on the ground floor represents the heart of family life. This area is garden-oriented with the direct exit to the roofed-over terrace and the garden which offer the best views from the house. The ground floor interior has sliding doors which retract into the wall and thus create an integrated, unified space. When closed, they divide the space into functional units. The first floor contains two children’s bedrooms, a master bedroom with a bathroom and a study.

The house has many interesting features that directly affect the entire architectural composition e.g. the roofed passageway between the garage and the rest of the house and the vertical shaft in the children’s bathroom on the first floor which leads to the laundry room in the service area below and enables simple delivery of dirty laundry.

The street-oriented façade is more closed, designed with horizontal overhang which unites the entrance area and the garage and is characterized by the contrast of white and dark grey colour. By opening of glass walls leading to the roofed over terrace, the daily zone is expanded and connected to the garden and the outdoors ensuring enough sunlight and warmth. Such orientation enables quality views unobstructed by the surrounding houses. The house has a typical double-pitched roof interpreted in a modern way, without eaves or visible roof verticals.
